Daphne Krinos says about her work 'My jewellery is not entirely planned before I start making it. I do not work to detailed drawings, I need to experiment with the material itself. The starting point is almost always metal and I try to show its qualities and character in my pieces.'
Daphne often incorporates translucent stones to add colour and recently she has become more interested in finding unusual cuts and shapes, which she uses as a starting point in designing a piece of jewellery.
Ideas often come from the urban environment Daphne lives in. She looks at buildings, demolition sites, cranes, scaffolding and numerous structures in London.
Greece where she comes from is also a source of inspiration, and there it is nature that
she draws ideas from as well as the unique quality of light, which really does look like yellow gold.
