'Gudde’s Scandinavian origin influenced her early abstract champlevé jewellery exploring the symbiotic relationship between reflective precious metal surfaces and translucent
colour.
A chance introduction to printmaking led Gudde to explore the concept of creating copper etching plates and, after printing, transforming them into mounts for enamelled silver brooches that could be removed from their frames to be worn and subsequently replaced to restore the panels’ compositions.
Recently, Gudde has created a series of enamelled copper and steel panels, brooches and complementary coloured prints narrating the history of ‘villages perchés’, a string of hill villages inland from the French Mediterranean coast, capturing their individual atmosphere, clarity of light and warmth of colour.'
