Tamar works with metal and glass, it is her language. In working with metal (silver, gold and copper) and enamel (glass and oxides) she fuses ancient and contemporary techniques and concepts. She was initially trained as a jeweller at Central St. Martin’s School of Art in London and designs and makes enamelled jewellery and silverware. Her interest in ceremony, both personal and public, has led her recently to create a collection of Judaica.

Tamar grew up in Israel and the Middle Eastern influences were crucial for her development as a jewellery designer and maker. Ancient cultures made a great impact on her artistic identity. The texture of the land, the Mediterranean colours and landscape, and the multi-cultural character of the people are reflected in her work.

She creates personal and precious objects that symbolise and signify an event, a memory, or an object as luck charm. Her interest in ceremonial objects centres on the relationship between the person and the object, marking a distinctive occasion.

Tamar’s work is part of the collections of the Jewish Museum in New York, the National Museum of Scotland, the museum's collection at the V&A, London and she is on the Crafts Council Index of Selected Makers.
